This is a Rudall Carte Bb bass flute which I acquired quite a few years ago. It wasn’t playing and it’s headjoint was in a number of pieces.
The headjoint tenon had been force ably removed from the rest of the headjoint and left in the body (!) and the pepperpot lip barrel was in two pieces! It was more out of curiosity that I took it and got it back into playing order. Although not really much use outside a dedicated flute band, (I’m guessing that it’s previous life was as part of such a band or a military band) it does have a lovely sonorous quality somewhat reminiscent of a quiet alto flute.
