This was a piccolo I overhauled while still with All Flutes Plus. It was bought on commission and requested by the buyer that it all be repadded in cork.
It’s not unusual to have the lower pads done in cork, certainly this helps the longevity of those pads as they’re a bit more prone to moisture and staining from the wood but this was the first time I’d done the whole instrument in cork.
Certainly it takes a bit longer to do and it’s certainly not for everyone but in this case it turned an already fantastic piccolo into probably the best piccolo I’ve ever heard.
